Known for being well-versed in both the Hip-Hop and EDM genres, it comes as no surprise that A-Trak will be releasing a collaborative EP with legendary Harlem rapper, Cam’ron. The EP will be titled the Federal Reserve EP and will employ other Fool’s Gold producers such as Party Supplies, who is already listed on the lead single, “Humphrey”. It will be interesting to see if A-Trak draws from his electronic roots considering Cam’ron and his Dipset crew are generally known for their polished New York soul sound.
The lead single, “Humphrey”, sticks to the classic Dipset sound, featuring an organic piano line and heavy soul sampling. Of course, it seems unlikely that someone as progressive as A-Trak will let Cam’ron get away with sticking to his signature sound. I am excited to see how A-Trak will push the boundaries with this one and put both rap fans and EDM fans completely out of their comfort zones. Although the date is still tentative, A-Trak has announced that the EP will be released in 2014 via Fool’s Gold, and you can check out the first track, “Humphrey”, below.
