At Dawn We Rage. As the sun begins to rise wherever you may be, Phoenix duo Stormy Logan (producer) and Travis Chenoweth (live drums) are somewhere in the world pulsating the waking dead with drum infused cryptic electronic production. Yes, cryptic. Logan and Chenoweth have made a name for themselves serving up audible creations which I might describe as obscure and even spaceworthy at times; A strong focus on maintaining unique melodies while consistently developing intros which capture the ear.
I think it’s all about originality. Like trying new stuff, a lot of people like what we’re doing because we throw a little more melody into it ya know? You still have the heaviness. -Stormy in an interview with The Kollection
While the majority of their sounds leave scattered remnants of filthy bass, At Dawn has proven a credible diversity within their production. Case in point made with one of my favorite tracks titled Chill Out, You’re Already A Winner, a downtempo, mellow dub track designed for moments of groove and relaxation.
Currently hailing under the umbrella of Figure‘s Doom Music, ADWR jolted onto the scene with EP releases under Heavy Artillery Records. Today, they bolster a deep catalog of both originals and remixes receiving past notoriety from big name producers, labels, tastemakers and blogs across the spectrum.
At Dawn We Rage Takes on Trap, Claims A Sound Of Their Own
Recently, we have seen the massive uprising of trap music. The sub-genre is creating a global stir while luring producers of all backgrounds into it’s snare-heavy, sultry bass tendencies. Hell, Tiesto just dropped Luminox at Stereosonic in Australia this past weekend. Trap music has surfaced at the peak of electronic dance music.
In an age where music is so easily susceptible to change, it is reciprocally susceptible to being lazily repeated and recycled, essentially killing the very unique stigma which it grew on. When haphazard attempts get released by the hour, it dilutes the experience for the fan as a whole.
The Fall is the perfect example of diligently produced trap music created with an intent to push the predisposed limits. At Dawn We Rage is on the bill for Lights All Night because of their ability to stand out and purvey a sound of their own.
