Above & Beyond’s Next Anthem “Anjunafamily” is Finally Out

Above & Beyond has got to be some of the busiest DJ/Producers/Label owners in the trance and progressive scene. From hosting their own stages at the biggest festivals in the world to throwing their own Anjuna only events, it seems that there is no stopping the frontrunners of the Anjunabeats brand. Since their beginning going back to 2000, Above & Beyond has always done phenomenally at translating emotion to music. With notable hits like, “Sun & Moon”, “Thing Called Love” along with many more; their new single “Anjunafamily” is consistent with the quality of the past. It was originally played out at their ABGT300 show that took place in Hong Kong nearly 10 months ago. To our relief it is finally out!

The 1st drop and bass-line of the “Anjunafamily” sets the tone for an aggressive yet danceable groove that would fit perfect for the peak time of a festival or even your after-hours house party. The groove carries onto the second phrase where plucks and a falling melody swell in leading into the breakdown. After, a counter melody of plucks come in to change the tone for something more uplifting yet pained. More pads and strings come in to support the ethereal sense that has been built. Then a sudden break to silence. We imagine that this part of the track is perfect for the next lucky anjunafamily member to be able to “Push The Button”.

The silence in broken by a massively fat “wall of sound” chord progression that comes in. The chords are in a minor key building a sense of painful hope of overcoming incredible challenges that punch you right in the feels. Once you hear the full progression of the chords you then are delivered a few vocal “ohhs” that come in layered with the familiar plucky melody from the breakdown tying it all together. There is a short break which leads to the familiar big-roomy bass line letting you know that the resolve has come.
