Adventure Club Claimed They Created “#Selfie” & Sucessfully Troll Everyone

Recently DJOYBeat.com published an interview with Adventure Club that quickly sparked a fire within the electronic dance music community. Their conversation with one of EDM’s favorite supergroups hosted a clever troll which, in sort, claimed that Adventure Club ghost produced the hit record “#Selfie” for The Chainsmokers.

After I was sent this article I immediately touched bass with The Chainsmokers’ camp. And it turns out my original thoughs were correct, Christian Srigley and Leighton James were just playing a joke on their close friends – a very well written joke to say the least.

Though, considering most dance music fans take ghost production extremely seriously, many people were offended by this stunt. The Chainsmokers’ are currently taking a lot of heat, even after Adventure Club cleared the air via Twitter.

As mentioned above I reached out to The Chainsmokers’ camp, they supplied me with this bit:

“Adventure club and us have a very good relationship and we are often taking the piss of one another as is the case here. We had a good laugh about this until other sites and ppl didn’t realize it was a joke. We take our creative integrity very very seriously. Everything we release is 100% created by us the chainsmokers and this includes selfie. We take such accusations very Seriously as we work extremely hard on our music.” – The Chainsmokers

All WhiteRaverRafting has to say on the matter is, “lighten up guys.” Alls well that ends well. We’re sure Alex and Drew are planning a hilarious retaliation, possibly in the form of an Instagram video – we hope.

“Interviewer: So last year you guys released “Wonder,” and people really love that song, so much so that you had that whole remix series. The Chainsmokers even did a remix of it, and now you guys are involved in something of a bromance with them, right?

Leighton: We are.

Interviewer: Can you talk a little bit about that?

Leighton: Well they kinda got distant with their whole new “#SELFIE” fame.

Christian: [Laughs] They got that “#SELFIE” money, and as soon as they got that “#SELFIE” money they were too cool for us – but we were friends with them since day one.

Leighton: Well off the on the record…

Interviewer: “Off the on the record?”

Leighton: Yeah, he’s saying kinda what happened, but the reverse situation of it, ’cause what happened was we wrote “#SELFIE,” and we thought it was, like, too cheesy to release as Adventure Club, so we gave it to them. And then all of the sales and all of that actually comes into our pockets, so we’ve been making a lot of money off of them and there’s a little bit of resentment there.

Interviewer: Are you sure you’re okay with me publishing this?

Christian: Absolutely [laughs].”
