It’s no secret, electronic dance music has caught a negative reputation with mainstream media, and over the last few months that negative reputation has spiked significantly. Though, what media outlets like CBS, ABC and CNN have failed to report on is all of the remarkable efforts our industry has set forth to help local communities. The Electric Family brand is among the leaders in raising money and awareness through campaigns that feature some of EDM’s most notable talent. Recently they’ve teamed up with Christian Srigley and Leighton James, know to the dance music as Adventure Club, for another effort that aimed to bring fans together to package food for the less fortunate. This project took place at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and from the video you can see that it was a major success. Note from the editor: After watching this four-minute film it was difficult to withdraw the faint tears from my eyes. This beautiful effort is a step in the right direction for electric dance music and proving that this industry is about more than partying in nightclubs and at festivals. The EDM community is very open-minded and as it continues to grow I hope the ideals of the Electric Family brand will flourish and act as a call of action to ravers who are looking to make a difference. Instead of fighting the mainstream media about their skewed, one-sided opinion of our community, let’s show them what we’re actually all about. – Tyler
“Electric Family and Adventure Club combine once again to create the latest in a series of impressive campaigns, to show electronic music fans have far more to offer, than the current stereotypes certain mainstream media outlets like to enjoy….” – UKF
