One of the best parts about being involved in the EDM world is there is never a shortage of talented newcomers. The same is absolutely true of AFK, alternatively known as Jimmy Blythe, straight outta Dallas, Texas. This EP, released by Firepower Records, is made up of four original creations and two remixes of previous works, all of which deliver on the destruction promised.
“Solo productions ‘Pinkman’ and ‘Hear Me Shout’ focus their sights directly on club destruction, the former wielding a barrage of flailing basslines while the latter introduces infectious vocal samples to tap into a lighter mood. He then teams up with fellow Texan and rising talent Spenca on two more tracks, ‘Go Home’ and ‘Who Wants Some’. While ‘Go Home’s intro draws on jungle and old skool rave influences to bring a new dimension to its big drum stomp and sprightly bassline, ‘Who Wants Some’ goes straight for the jugular.”
And dont forget about the two remixes featuring Messinian, both of which are heavyhitters in their own rights. While you might not recognize AFK’s name now, that is something that is sure to change if the young talent keeps pumping out prime like this.
The EP is now available on iTunes for purchase or can be checked out via SoundCloud if youd rather have a taste first. Or you can skip all the online hooplah and see him live on any of the below mentioned tour dates alongside other bass-bringers like Crizzly and others.
