Being a long time Afrojack fan myself, it has certainly been interesting watching Nick van de Wall’s career change and develop over the years. Yesterday we watched him take another step into the pop scene with his release of ‘As Your Friend’, a collaboration with popstar Chris Brown.
Afrojack’s steady dutch beats and bleeps are laced perfectly with Chris Brown’s smooth vocals. I can almost hear it on the radio already, but is that such a bad thing? These days, EDM is more accessible to newcomers than ever. With big names like Afrojack and Guetta crossing over onto mainstream radio, it is difficult for even the most out of touch person to be blind to the movement.
If the thought of Afrojack’s music being played on the mainstream radio scares you, don’t worry. I’m here to assure you that dance anthems like ‘Montreal’, ‘Funk With Me’, and ‘Rock The House’ are long from gone. Let the man express he creativity, it’s refreshing to hear something different. Look out for the release of Nick’s remix of PSY‘s ‘Gangnam Style’ this April.
