Today, Philos Records artists Ageless dropped his second full-length album, entitled “Off Course, But On Point”. The album title is a reference to the musical diversity of this album, and Wesley Paioff’s journey as Ageless. The album as a whole is filled with a lot of funk rhythms, unfiltered hip-hop beats, soulful vocals, and tons of groovy yet hard-hitting electronica. Inspired by the electro-soul sound, Ageless has made a name for himself and this release further launches his individuality. What sets Ageless apart from most other electro-soul producers is that his songs are able to captivate this really distinct middle-ground between highs and lows- his tracks are upbeat but mellow, happy yet sad, rough yet smooth. “Off Course, But On Point” reiterates this idea- despite that his tracks may be all over the place, there’s a definitive linkage among them all.
“This album goes down a different path than the straight and narrow, but never strays far from my ongoing vision. Like most of my music, it’s about past inspiration and future ideas. I took that ol’ vinyl road down highway 45 (and occasionally 33) back to the days of raw melodic funk, and added my own flavor that’s rooted in my years as a Hip-Hop producer, and my current ‘no need for genre labels’ mentality. Funky guitar licks, crunchy bass sounds, hip-hop drum patterns, and of course those soulful vocals are all there.” – Wesley Paioff (Ageless) on “Off Course, But On Point”
