Up next on ProgRAM, the little D&B sister to Ram Records, is a pair of sounds from AJ Mutated. If you’re into the genre, there is no doubt you will have already encountered some of his work as Mutated Forms. The artist is now setting sail solo, delivering “Bleak” and “Catch 22” this week.
We are loving both of these listens. “Bleak” is everything you might expect from its title: darkly meandering bass notes and sharp drums. “Catch 22” is still powerful in its form, but moves with a little more fluidity throughout.
Explaining their themes, AJ says: ““The name and mood (Bleak( came from a friend showing me the 2003 UK series Monkey Dust (which was BLEAK AS HELL), and I somehow ended up making a synth – naturally it progressed into this. With Catch 22, I wanted to capture a similar feel to some of the angry rollers we were making in 2010, but with a more technologically advanced and better engineered sound.”
Be sure to give both “Bleak” and “Catch 22” a listen now!
