There’s nothing more satisfying to the soul than the tearing, heart-pounding sound of incredible techno music. Thankfully for us, we can always count on Alan Fitzpatrick to deliver just this.
The Southampton-based DJ has done up another massive one with his recently released EP Brian’s Proper Dun One. As one of Drumcode’s most tenacious players, Alan Fitzpatrick’s mastery of thundering electronic music has made him one of the most well-known names in the game, especially amongst thousands of underground revelers in the UK. In 2016, he delivered a handful of big releases, beginning with Fabric 87 mix, then “We Do What We Want,” ‘Friday Night Dancing,” and his late-night dub remix of Moby’s “Porcelain.” As a prominent supporter of Britain’s most infamous nightclub, Fabric London, in the wake of its brief but baffling closure, he joined forces with Rinse FM and Fabric to throw down in their 12 hour take over, featuring the club and dance music’s most respected players, to (successfully) save this institution.
Once again, Alan Fitzpatrick brings us a proper 3-track techno EP for all of us lovers of the genre to agonize over. The title-track “Brian’s Proper Dun One,” sets the tone for all by offering crushing, rhythmic drums and solid kicks throughout. The heavy drumline gets deeper, harder, and more mesmerizing in the old school-like track “Wait a Second,” featuring vocals from mc r1bbz. The last and most explosive track comes in the form of the magical production “Trance, Init?” Drumcode describes this one as “A homage to Alan’s days first and foremost as a raver before he became a DJ, with his non-purist attitude when it comes to electronic music shining through.” Trust us, this track is mint in every sense of the word.
There’s so much “YES” in this EP that you’re going to quickly tire of repeatedly saying it. Now go have a listen and thoroughly enjoy yourself.
