Although it is a time that both dance music fans and DJs alike have been looking forward to all year, 2014’s Miami Music Week has not gone entirely as planned, with a slew of unexpected illnesses having caused a number of distinguished performers to cancel gigs. Most notably, Avicii was admitted into hospital a few days ago, resulting in the cancellation of a scheduled performance at the novelty Avicii Hotel. He has also divulged in a recent press release that he is to have his gallbladder removed in Miami, and consequently will be unable to perform at Ultra Music Festival, where he was to close the second day with a performance. Boldly stepping in to replace the House music superstar is none other than Deadmau5, who initially made it quite clear that he did not want to play at the grandiose festival, but will now be playing the closing set for Day 2. Avicii is not the only performer to have been hindered due to illness, as Afrojack was also hospitalized earlier in the week due to dehydration and exhaustion, and Stefan of Dada Life had to return to Sweden to undergo emergency surgery.
Adding to this unfortunate list is now Alex of the esteemed duo, Hard Rock Sofa. Yesterday, fans were informed about the situation through a post on the duo’s Facebook page, which revealed that Alex had gotten quite sick, and would be too unwell to perform at any of their scheduled gigs. Fortunately for fans, no appearances have been completely scrapped, as Denis, the other half of the duo, will still be carrying out their upcoming performances:
Hopefully the rest of the week will be much less tainted with sickness, and we at White Raver Rafting would like to wish all of the ill performers a speedy recovery.
