Last Friday, 5 o’clock struck and we were out of the office in a second, ready to go all gone for Pete Tong.
As part of Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival (BEMF), industry maven Pete Tong hosted his infamous All Gone Pete Tong party at Analog BKNY. For those of you not familiar with the space, Analog sits in a part of Brooklyn that’s reminiscent of Williamsburg’s past, before it was the trendiest place on the east coast to live. The venue is a neon-lit 5,000 square foot industrial hideaway that still boasts a heavier underground feel than its more popularized rivals like Output and Verboten; it was a solid choice to play host to a true classic. The night started out hot with Brooklyn’s own DJ and producer Cranks beating out heavy techno beats. With good vibes flowing steadily through the mature millennial crowd flocking onto the dance floor, Berlin-based producer Chambray made his way to the stage and turned the party up ten notches. Known for his punchy house tracks like “Anew” and “Rub,” his set displayed influences of techno and ghetto house, and it was pure fire.
While we were thoroughly enjoying Chambray’s set – we could have easily let him rip through another hour or so – 1:30 am rolled around and it was time for the man of the hour to hit the stage. Before Chambray could properly wrap up, a rambunctious crowd started chanting for the BBC 1 Radio icon. The ever-so-cool Pete Tong made his way to the decks, kicking off his nearly three-hour takeover of Analog BKNY. The legend excited the crowd with all of his essentials, including fan favorites like “Aurora,” well into the early hours of the morning. While we could go through the roster of all his played hits, it can be summed up by saying Pete Tong delivered a set that long-time fans, like ourselves, wanted, need, and left feeling incredibly satisfied.
This year, the All Gone Pete Tong party joined BEMF in celebrating its 10-year anniversary. The annual 3-day event took place October 12-14, where an array of the industry’s underground talents showed up to play a slew of Brooklyn’s acclaimed music venues, like Output, Analog BKNY, The Music Hall of Williamsburg, House of Yes, Paper Box, Good Rom, and more. The 2018 edition welcomed players like Green Velvet, Gorgon City, Justin Martin, Tokimonsta, Billy Caldwell, Kill Frenzy, Joe Pompeo, Riva Starr, Cranks, Chamray, and of course, Pete Tong.
