According to DutchNews.nl festivals in Amsterdam are now required to supply fans with free water. The Amsterdam city council has made it clear that they’ll only be granting licenses to festival organizers if they guarantee festival goers will have unlimited access to free water.
Official guidelines say that there is suppose to be one tap for every 150 festival attendees. Research published in the Telegraaf, the largest Dutch daily morning newspaper, claims more than half of festival goers find it difficult if not impossible to find tap water at events.
With that being said, this change is extremely positive and should be adopted by high profile festival areas in the United States. For the most part festivals in the U.S. always offer some sort of free water option. However, having a requirement that ensure quality and quantity would be very beneficial.
