With only three days left until Amtrac performs at CRSSD Fest, the debut of 1987 EP on his new label OPENERS came with perfect timing. From deep house, to tech house, to indie dance and disco, Amtrac is never short on variety, and 1987 delivers just that.
Although all four tracks may be classified as house, they all have different elements and tones that Amtrac can create. “Never Lost” kicks off the EP with older 80s tech feel to it, channeling the snowy drive in a struggling sedan pictured on the cover. From there, Amtrac and Forrest go on a darker and more techno-fused house vibe with conflicting emotions of “Escape”-ing or staying. “Piano Boy” kicks up the vibe channeling rising keys that join pop-y synths that rise and fall eventually into nothingness wanting more. And more is what “Informal Disco” gives you as our favorite track on the EP that first approaches with multiple conflicting channels that collide into a two-step beat ready for the dance floor that seamlessly takes off on a journey for its entirety. All four tracks can be streamed/added to a Spotify playlist below, or snag on Beatport.
