Comprised of members Theo Klein and Trey Schibli, burgeoning Vermont-based duo by the name of argonaut&wasp has just dropped a fresh, grooving single entitled “Pistol Pump Funk” as a free download for fans, accompanied by a vivacious, highly-entertaining music video. Having put out their first single, “Into The Drown“, back in August of 2013, argonaut&wasp continues to present a bold, dynamic, and distinctive fusion of genres and styles resulting in a unique Indie/electronic hybrid sound.
“Pistol Pump Funk” is a smooth, yet lively aggregation of mellowed synths, harmonious guitar riffs, pulsing bass lines, and rhythmic percussion patterns which coalesce artfully with the mellifluous, catchy vocal hooks, making for a track that will appeal greatly to both Indie-pop, and dance music fans alike. This eccentric, and compelling music video takes the song in a contrastive direction, bringing it back to the old West – complete with cowboys and saloons, which are juxtaposed by modern streets and sounds.
Balancing quality electronic production with live instrumentation, argonaut&wasp’s distinguishable style has put them on the map in their local electronic music scene, having earned the title of “Best Local Act” by The Vermont Cynic, in addition to playing frequent gigs around their city. You can also catch them (along with their live band; Alec Donkin, Kevin Whitehead, and Willoughby Morse) supporting Lemaitre on a couple of their tour stops:
Lemâitre w/ argonaut&wasp @ Signal Kitchen – Burlington, VT – July 25th
Lemâitre w/ argonaut&wasp @ Great Scott – Boston, MA – July 27th
