Armin van Buuren has been announced to join Miley Cyrus, Flo Rida, Pit Bull, Macklemore and more as he will be on the lineup for two nights of “Jingle Ball”. Both events that van Buuren will play at pits him in a odd grouping- surrounded by a roulette of top 40 artists, including the recently donned tabloid-queen Miley Cyrus, it’s surprising that van Buuren would agree to these shows. It’ll be interesting to see how his sets fit in the scheme of these events.
Taking place by Clear Channel Radio of iHeartRadio, the “Jingle Ball” mini-tour has eight stops, including stops in Los Angeles, Boston, and Chicago, to name a few. Each concert is co-sponsored by local radio stations. It’s an annual mini-tour to celebrate the holiday season, and $1 of each ticket sold will go towards non-profit groups.
Tom Poleman, president of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment said in a statement about Jingle Ball acts:
“Our Jingle Ball events reflect what’s really special about our radio stations and the iHeartRadio digital platform – expert curation of the biggest superstars and the most promising emerging artists in music.”
While more dedicated electronic music fans may be upset by van Buuren joining the ranks of Miley Cyrus and the like, it can’t be denied that this is a great opportunity for mainstream audiences to be exposed to real, well-crafted EDM. We’ll keep you updated if we hear more from van Buuren on this.
