An artist we have frequently spotlighted on WRR, Garret Meyer aka Artifakts, begun a kickstarter campaign today via Indiegogo to have his first solo EP pressed onto 100 7″ vinyl records. Trying to reach a total goal of $1,000, Meyer is giving the campaign 60 days to try to reach his goal by this winter. First 90 donations of $10 or more will automatically receive a copy of the vinyl recording, and all donations that exceed the $1,000 goal will go to as charity to the National Adoption Center, an organization which helps place fostered children in adequate, loving homes.
Artifakts is a up-and-coming producer out of Wisconsin, specializing in downtempo, chill-out, ambient hip-hop. His songs soothe the soul and take the mind on a gentle journey through time.
“My style of music dabbles somewhere between dusty hip hop and ambient downtempo. It takes old, obscure breaks from vinyl buried deep in the crates of small town America, and brings life to them again by manipulation, distortion, and creation of sound. I have always loved and envied the dusty sounds and crackle of an aged vinyl record (partially the inspiration behind my name) and I am hoping to release my first instrumental EP in such a timeless format.” – Garret Meyer aka Artifakts
For donating, you get options in return, such as a personal thank you, a digital pre-release of the EP, a thank you credit on the vinyl EP, and much more.
