Today we’re headed to Toulouse, France to check out one of the emerging talents in the American underground Chloé Herry, aka CloZee. Recently she’s been blowing people away at fests like Sonic Bloom, Camp Bisco, and closed out an awesome time at F.A.R.M fest in New Jersey this past weekend.
We’ve seen her described as “glitch-hop” but personally that categorization doesn’t do her sound justice. Yes there are your typical elements of glitch with up-beat, bouncy percussion but the myriad of other sonic flows in her tunes make her a genre-bending fusionista with a take that is all her own.
Hailing from electronic music hotspot France, 23 year old Chloé has been playing guitar since she was 11 and producing since she was 16. Going back to her Dubious EP from three years ago, we see a very different version of the CloZee of today as lush, downtempo sound meshes with guitar courtesy of Chloé. Jump to The Poetic Assassin released in 2013, and we see her evolving within glitch with wider, harder sounds complimented by smooth acoustic guitar. Her latest endeavor, the OTODAYO tracks showcase another side of CloZee featuring a diverse palette of international sounds that call back to her downtempo roots. Check out our personal favorite “Baiana” an upbeat dance anthem that is sure to get you hype.
Through all of CloZee’s music, we see a truly talent musician who produces quality on everything she touches. Her set at F.A.R.M this past weekend was one of our favorites and we cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us going forward. Check the rest of her tour dates out below and definitely make it out if you get a chance.
