This week we’re headed to Austin, TX to put you on some extra-terrestrial bass from the mind of John Burchem aka, Psymbionic. If you had a chance to celebrate the Vernal Equinox at The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors this past weekend you would have caught the set he put down along with amazing talent Govinda, Skytree, Globular, Jeremey’s Aura, and Antandra Music. You can check out a quick write up we did on his personal review of COSM here.
Classifying Berchem’s music is difficult, as his production is diverse within the space he creates. There are heavier bassy tracks like his remix of Minnesota’s “Stardust Redux” that gets you a nice taste of harder synths on a track that winds and weaves through your mind. If you’re looking for harder vibes it’s best to check out Parallels (Part One: Storm) his album from about year ago. We’re loving “Slither” off Part One, a horn laden grimy track with just the right amount of thug.
We see his diversity on Parallels (Part Two: Eye), which was released in the summer of last year. This collection of tracks is considerably more chilled out, featuring collabs with Govinda, Soulular, and Digital Connection. We absolutely love “How Am I Not Myself” ft. Govinda, a downtempo vibe accompanied by the gorgeous violin courtesy of Govinda. No matter what style of Psymbionic you’re getting when you listen, you’ll always be greeted with dynamic, celestial sounds and infectious rhythms.
John is currently touring so if you liked what you heard, you’re in luck! Dates and music below.
