The DJ Mag Top 100 DJ list is out and despite a handful of positive responses, it appears that the general consensus is that… Nobody cares. Year after year, DJ Mag attempts to rank artists by polling dedicated music fans for their favorites but in the end an accurate depiction of talent is nearly impossible.
From the artists who spend months campaigning for votes to the voters who may not even know the difference between a DJ and a producer, it is all too easy to skew the results of a list such as this one.
Overall, there may be some truth to the results when you consider that you can’t get to the top of any industry without some amount of genuine talent. That being said, if you are looking for a true reflection of talent in the electronic music industry – don’t make this list your only reference.
Here are a few of the artists who have weighed in on the rankings, both good and bad. Are their opinions valid or do you think they’re just hating?
Diplo – Ranked #32
Knife Party – Ranked #53 and Dillon Francis – Ranked #54
Oh no, number 53. Surely the next step for us is sucking dick for crack money, and then…a slow fade into irrelevancy. @DJmag — Knife Party (@knifepartyinc) October 19, 2014

@diplo the way to make it into the dj100 list (aside from writing “DJ Mag top 100” on a girl’s arm) is to get spiky hair.
