It’s been just over a year since the death of SiriusXM’s “Electric Area”. For many people that was a favorite go-to source for discovering new music within the trance and progressive side dance music. The main features to the channel were DJ mixes, Live event broadcasting from events such as; EDC, Tomorrowland, EZoo, Electric Forest and more.
The channel has since been rebranded as “Diplo’s Revolution” titled off of his 2013 EP. If this was an upsetting change just know that you aren’t alone. Gareth Emery stands with you having stated,
“America just lost the by far best radio station that they had”. Electric Area is certainly missed but, alas, we have found something to give us hope for something reminiscent.
We recently discovered a new site that could potentially give us back what was taken away. Ascension.FM is a new internet radio station that plays trance and progressive music. From the website you can see that there is even a monthly schedule with a few DJ/Producers hosting their podcasts. A few of the artists that we have recognized on the line up are Silk Music artist “Andromedha”, Alter Ego/Tangled Audio artist Cory Goldsmith and quite a few more. Alongside discovering the new gem we have gotten in touch with the owner who shared goals for the website to host major trance events. How soon that will be is uncertain but definitely something to think about. Could this be the replacement so many of us have been looking for? Tune into Ascension.fm now and listen for yourself.
