With a unique, distinctive, and groovy style abundant in “feel good vibes”, burgeoning Minnesota producer, Attom, is undoubtedly one of the most promising artists to have broken into the electronic music scene. Having garnered a dedicated and growing fan base, Attom never fails to disappoint with his consistent deliverance of stunning original tunes and remixes, all representative of his signature Nu-Disco inspired sound.
Having also managed to turn many heads with his track, “Glow”, which has received significant airplay on Sirius XM’s Channel 53, Attom has recently put out another jaw-dropping single, “Cruise”, which can be streamed above. Amidst the plethora of hackneyed tunes saturating the dance music genre, “Cruise” is both refreshing and inventive, most definitely leaving fans in eager anticipation to hear more from this up-and-coming producer.
Attom was also so kind to have agreed to put together an exclusive mix for our RaverRaftingRadio series, which can be streamed via our SoundCloud. We were also fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to interview Attom, which can be read below.
1. What is your current taste in music like? Does listening to other genres inspire/influence the music you make?
“I’m actually huge fan of heavier stuff. I’ve always been obsessed with Feed Me, and more recently Far Too Loud. And listening to other genres definitely influences me, but it also just keeps me from getting burnt out on the style I make.”
2. When/how did you decide to start producing? Do you play any live instruments?
“When I was 18 or so my friend introduced me to Justice, and their music blew me away. He got Ableton and we messed around with it for like 3 weeks and then stopped. Shortly after that I started college, but I got an itch for producing about a year or so later and that’s when I decided I was going to try my best to make music for a living.
As for live instruments, I started playing the drums when I was about 13, and I had to take some piano classes, so those are the only two I’m fairly comfortable with.”
3. Your newest track, “Cruise” has received a widely positive response thus far, and I think it’s safe to say that fans are definitely excited to hear more. Can you tell us a little bit about any upcoming music you have in the works?
“Yeah, the response has been fun to see! I have quite a few things in the works. I have two collaborations nearing completion, then I think I have two of my own originals that are close, and also a remix, which will more than likely be my next release. I’m pretty excited about all of it.”
4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
“It seems like every month or so something crazy happens that I never would have imagined, so I really have no idea. All I know is that I want to be making music. I suppose ideally I’d be producing pop stuff or touring as Attom, but I’m just going to keep rolling things and see what happens.”
5. Tell us a random fact about you that your fans might not already know?
“The only class I’ve ever failed was a 1 credit pass/fail elective I took in college called recital attendance. You seriously just had to go to 10 recitals to pass. Apparently I can’t count.”
