Austin City Limits Music Festival will go down over two weekends October 4th-6th and 11th-13th with a lineup that’s disappointing for EDM fans, but overall pretty outstanding considering they have Depeche Mode, The Cude, Muse, Kings of Leon and Phoenix headlining.
The only major producer / dj they have on the bill is Kaskade. Paper Diamond will also be playing, but it’s interesting how they shunned even mainstream artists who are going heavy on the festival circuit this summer like Calvin Harris.
While it’s understandable that they didn’t want their festival to get taken over by dance music and this is ACL making a statement that this is who we are… the amount of competition out there is incredible and we just don’t see many festivals with a lineup like this anymore.
All of the iconic genre inclusive festivals like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Coachella have a ton of dance acts on the lineup, this isn’t the case for Austin City Limits.
Last year’s lineup included Avicii, Bassnectar, Thievery Corporation, Crystal Castles, Big Gigantic and A-trak.
Tickets for ACL 2013 are on sale now with regular 3-day passes going for $225. You can purchase them here.
Do you think this will help the festival sell tickets? Or do you think they should have added more EDM artists?
