24-year-old Tim Bergling, best known by the alias of “Avicii” never fails to grab the attention of the electronic music scene, having dropped his diverse, and nonconformist debut album, True, just last year, which even trickled into the spotlight of the mainstream media. Despite having persevered through some unfortunate, and ill-timed medical emergencies earlier this year, Avicii has revealed that he has over 70 songs in the works, and is anticipating the release of his second album later this year.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Tim has disclosed a few key details about the forthcoming release (which has yet to be given a title), that will most definitely amplify fans’ excitement surrounding this new body of work. With his music renowned for being a unique fusion of both electronic, and non-electronic genres, it will come as no surprise that Avicii has dropped a very diverse handful of names as some collaborators for the album.
With Avicii already having produced the hit song “A Sky Full Of Stars” for his band, Coldplay, it has been made known that lead vocalist Chris Martin will appear on some of the new material, along with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, who is featured on a track entitled “No Pleasing a Woman”. Furthermore, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, and rock legend, Jon Bon Jovi, will also be providing vocals for tunes on the Swedish producer’s newest release. Avicii also spoke of a collaborative tune with Wyclef Jean and Matisyahu, which is said to be a Reggae duet.
Commenting on the album, Tim articulated the following; “It’s going to be a lot more song-oriented…True was an attempt at that, getting electronic music in a song format.” Be sure to check the site for more news and updates.
