Avicii’s laptop was stolen last night from a hotel and although the young Swede claims he knows who took it, he’s still having trouble getting it back. The main issue is that the project files for eight different tracks were on the laptop and no backups exist.
Avicii said through his twitter account that he has the mp3 files and will re-make the tracks as best as possible just through listening them. Whether this is beneficial or not, we’ll probably never know.
My computer was stolen along with project files to 8 brand new tracks ive been playin. And no backup.

Well if the thief was just looking to score a new Macbook, he probably got more than he bargained for. Maybe it wasn’t the best idea to let people know what was on the hard drive. I’m not sure what the black market rate for eight unreleased Avicii tracks is… but probably a lot.
In today’s age there really isn’t any excuse for losing your data. Even if your computer crashes or gets stolen, all of your files can be backed up using numerous products like Dropbox. Laptops will always be a huge target for theft, especially when they contain proprietary information or in this case project files for LEVELS remixes.
If you hear any Avicii sounding tracks in the next few weeks from an unknown artist, you’ll know where they came from 😉
