Avicii has always been top player in the electronic music game and has been know for his amazing productions over the years. But this year at Tomorrowland Avicii proved that he can do more than just produce great tracks but also put on an unforgettable performance. Every year at Tomorrowland artist bring their A games to put on a performance that matches the legendary status of this event. But this year Tim Bergling brought his A+ game.
This set was flooded with new tunes from his upcoming album Stories like his collaboration with Zach Brown Band entitled “Broken Arrows.” The new tracks slated to be on this upcoming album have a totally new vibe unlike anything we have previously heard from Avicii.
But it wouldn’t be an Avicii show without hearing some of the old classics that made us love his music in the first place. Even though we heard fan favorites like “I Could Be The One” and “Seek Bromance” but something seemed like it was missing. This year at Tomorrowland Avicii opted not play the smash hit that gave him his rise to the top. Have we finally we reached a time where Avicii doesn’t have to play “Levels” and it doesn’t make a difference? Most people think of “Levels” when they hear Avicii and only associate him with that song. So maybe Avicii has rode that horse long enough and may put that track on the shelf for a while and bring it back when we least expect it.
At then end of the action packed set Avicii premiered three brand new singles that are slated to be on his new album. The first track had a serious house vibe that has catchy vocals and reminds of a song you would hear in the early 2000’s. The next track had a very interesting sound. It was a slower tempo and had a synth sound that sounded extremely like a sound Kygo would use, maybe they are collaborating? And the final track was something totally new and fresh that we haven’t heard before. This song is is combination of hip-hop, country and that signature Avicii sound. This track is sure to make a statement when it is released.
This was an unforgettable performance from Avicii. If these new songs are an indication of where his new album is headed, we are in for a real treat this fall when he releases Stories. Avicii is really set to bring the electronic music world something they have never heard and start a new music revolution like he did when he first came onto the scene. On this new album we are going to hear more song-orientated tracks rather than just your typical dance floor tools.
