Huge hype surrounded the release of Avicii’s True, but none expected this: True has become the highest ranking solo EDM album EVER, debuting at #5 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart and selling over 50,000 copies in it’s first week. Avicii and True will go down in history, not only for breaking records, but for significantly bridging the gap between electronic and mainstream music.
The 12 tracks on True feature Disco, Pop, Rock, Country, Acoustic, Indie, all blended with modern electronic tempos and beats. Avicii has shown the world that by focusing on collaboration, creativity, and transparency, organic genres and styles can harmoniously encompass Electronic Dance elements.
This is a very exciting time in EDM history; between Langdon and Massive Advisors’ report on the increase of EDM listeners, the international explosion of EDM festivals, and now this; I feel the “EDM Bubble” is far from bursting.
