Avicii’s much anticipated album True has leaked on the internet. Illegal copies are being posted on torrent sites with other uploads allowing full streams. Just like Daft Punk and Pretty Lights, the album was released prior to it being available on sale.
Listening through the first time, it’s like Avicii has entered a new realm altogether and completely detached himself from anything related to house music at all. True isn’t overwhelmingly country, but the dance-pop tracks do feel like Ralph Lauren was a major voice in the studio – ensuring each track fit his own agenda.
A deeper review is coming later, but for now it looks like Avicii used the “EDM” platform to permanently launch himself or Ash Pournouri into the upper echelon of music producers or tastemakers.
