It’s time we told you more about our weekend at Awake Festival 2018 in Gornesti, Romania. If you haven’t read the first part of our review, you can check it out here, then come back to get more.
In this second part of our review, we take a deep dive into the activities Awake offered. And because we’re talking about a boutique festival, there was plenty to see on the grounds of this unique event.
First things first, as soon as we arrived our look was caught by the Feed Your Mind Platform, a place where we got to watch TED talks and took part at discussions on tons of subject from technology to nutrition and entrepreneurship. Movie screenings, personal development workshops, and Open Mic session turned this place into an oasis of inspiration, giving us a lot to digest. We even got to have “Coffee with the organizers”, an open Q&A session with the minds from Awake’s backstage, a bunch of awesome people who were always prepared to hear new ideas and feedback from ravers such as you and us.
Transilvania International Film Festival, known simply as TIFF, was also present on the grounds of Awake. Romanian short-movies and feature films alike were projected every day “under the bridge,” a lovely spot where we spent the lazy afternoons.
There’s no castle without a defense moat, right? And what better thing to do with said moat than create a Royal Playground. For this year’s edition, the organizers prepared games of petanque (something we had never played before), badminton and croquet. If you wanted to catch a glimpse of the royal feeling you could also shoot a bow in a specially prepared space or indulge in a zip-line adventure. After a night of non-stop dancing, we took a stop at the Serenity Meadow, where we tried yoga… and failed miserably.
But, undoubtedly, our favorite spot from the entire fest was the Forest Library. Around 400 books were placed in a majestically-designed outdoor library where we spend lovely moments in the glowing sun exploring new books and making our mark in coloring books.
Awake Festival turned out to be an oasis where no one could get bored, giving us the chance to explore more than we could even imagine. And so, we reach the end of our Exploring The Grounds piece, but don’t you worry, we’ve got more coming up about the festival to get your heart hungry for the next edition.
Until then, be sure to check out the aftermovie and connect with the festival.
