If we were to rewind back to 2002, a golden age of trance, it would be hard to escape the presence of Ayumi Hamasaki and the hit album Cyber TRANCE presents ayu trance 2, if you were in the right circles. The album was transformative and was a chart-climber, even receiving inclusion into the sets of Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, and many others. At the time, it made sense to explore setting up remixes of the album, Ferry Corsten, Rank 1, Push, Lange, Flip & Fill, and more all getting a chance to put their twist on the songs within the album. As an Easter egg of sorts, there were unreleased remixes press to vinyl and given out to DJ’s to play, stirring up conversation between hardcore fans regarding it’s origins.
Sadly these remixes never got publicly released, thus not getting the full exposure they deserved.
Now coming up on the 20th anniversary of the album, the Ayumi Hamasaki camp are giving justice to all those involved. Releasing a 30-track album called Cyber TRANCE presents ayu trance 2 (COMPLETE EDITION), where now the artists who once didn’t get their proper light of day are receiving just that.
The full version of this album can be heard below, mixing a nostalgia vibe with some fresh reveals, all in the same go.
