B00TY has just dropped their second single on Geffen Records, a funky, electro-soul fusion that brings on the retro vibes with “Funky Sista.” The L.A. electro-funk-soul duo started off on completely different sides of the states, with Edan perfecting the violin before ravaging for more instruments to have under his belt while Adam was obsessing over films, comedy, and cooking up his own screenplays. Luckily, fate brought these two together at UCLA in the Theater, Film, and Television program. Now they are taking over the local scenes of East Hollywood and downtown L.A. B00TY’s performances are unforgettable and word has been getting around of their production quality. The duo is always sure to bring in a full band of horns, backup singers, electric violin, and loads of keyboards to really bring their unique music style to life.
“Funky Sista” is an excellent example of what you can expect from the group. We start off with striking guitar chords that have this reverb effect, a very reminiscent throwback to older rock. The beat claps in with the vocals before layering in the rest of the band. It brings together some of the best worlds of music: funk, electronic, and alternative rock. The track is super catchy, leaving you in a nostalgic dream. Edan and Adam add in all those classic elements of a well versed band with that electronic flavor that really holds our attention. And of course as the clever lyrics say, “What good is the booty if you don’t get down?”. They have has done just that, having us get down and wanting to bring in our friends to the dance circle.
The track is available on all platforms, including Soundcloud, Spotify, and Apple Music. You can also check out the music video they released with the single down below. We highly suggest giving their music a listen and keeping them on your radar.
