If seeking out a tech-inspired sound that’s as immersive as it is entrancing, look no further than what duo Bad Eye have stitched together in Strait Of Anian / Empyryean EP.
The two track collection, which the singles within share the same names as the EP, piece together common vibes that pair nicely together.
Asher and Gage Norris, the two that makes up Bad Eye, stage a fortress of melodic house that overtakes with an almost devious nature. The former single on the EP truly grips its hooks within the listener. At 7 minutes long, by near-end, the melodic-tech song sedates and makes the mind mush to a vulnerable putty by the sonic vibes alone, the ladder single finishes things off with a more minimal, simplistic aura – the energy level slowly working upwards as quick synth notes send sparks flying metaphorically and chills down the spine literally.
For Boston-based Bad Eye, tech/deep house is their bread and butter, placing in a cinematic vibe into their music that plays positively into their distinctive sound.
Released on Canadian label Emercive, the imprint itself has certainly achieved high-points on it’s own. Founded in 2018 by artist Rhyot and surviving the pandemic and the shut down that came with it, its values of letting the end-artist call their shots musically has resulted in time-testing model as a label. From the label to the artists, this is something not to be missed.
