1. In the future what dance music genre(s) do you see yourselves exploring the most?
It’s hard to really pin-point one or two genres because we love them all, but if we really had to say it would be Tech and Deep House. The groove, soul and emotion that comes with those genres that Progressive and Electro House tracks seem to lack; in the end we just do what feels right. Right now we are trying to incorporate more emotion and deeper elements into Progressive House so that it maintains that big energy but it still has soul. We never sit down in the studio and think “ok let’s make a progressive banger”, we just try to make what we like and would want to play in our sets, simple as that.
2. Are there any specific labels you see your style fitting into?
This all really depends on what type of track we make, we could make a Progressive House track that fits Spinnin’ Records’ sound today and then a Tech House track that fits 100% Pure tomorrow, it really varies.
3. What are your goals for the next year?
PRODUCTIONS! (laughs) Really though, that’s the key to everything. We haven’t been producing together that long so right now our focus is making music, learning more complex sound engineering and getting some releases under our belt. We would like to have a few originals signed to some cool labels in the near future, because that’s really how you grow as an artist; it’s much more work, but in the end it’s 1000 times more rewarding. The big shows come after that, but only as long as we keep up the hard work.
4. What kind of shows do you see yourself playing? Festivals? Clubs? Do you plan on touring?
Ideally we want to play all kinds of shows. Festivals are fun because you get to play all of your best tracks and go as big as you want to from the start. Clubs are great in the sense that you have to build up throughout the night- really draw the crowd in, and then hit them with all that you’ve got! It’s more of a journey, and there’s honestly few things better than a big sexy club (laughs). We hope to tour at some point, but that will most likely come after some releases; we are really looking forward to that though!
5. Who has inspired you the most in the dance music scene? Do you see a collaboration in the future?
So many different people inspire us these days, but Porter Robinson is a huge inspiration because of how young and dedicated he is, not to mention how he produced everything that he’s released with the absolute minimum amount of equipment needed. It really proves that it’s the person making the music, and not the gear that makes a great track. Another big inspiration is John Dahlbäck. In our opinion he is one of the most talented and diverse producers today. He is very reserved, but he seems to release a new track every week, -all of which are of top quality. He’s an inspiration on how to be successful and stay successful in this industry. Nearly all other producers and DJs inspire us in a sense; Hearing the work of other artists gives a quality standard to live up to, and a little competition keeps us working hard in both our productions and DJing.
In the future we definitely plan on collaborating with other established artists as well as rising talent. The most interesting thing for us would be to work with other talented young artists like ourselves and grow together so to speak, although working with established industry giants like Axwell would be pretty incredible too!
