Fresh off of Datsik’s label Firepower and in collaboration with Disciple Recordings, Barely Alive releases their new EP “Internet Streets” which with the energy contained within, it’s no wonder that they’re rightly called “Barely” Alive.
It all begins with “Cyber Bullying” getting some hard lyrics by the man Messinian. Feeling like you’re listening to the anti-thesis of Krewella’s anti-bullying campaign, this ones gives an aggressive and powerful punch of dubstep and electro-gaming beats to enjoy. But why stop there? Next Soultrain Locomotive picks up the beat from there with “Riffle Blow Kiss” and throws down some island vocals and beats while going aggressively glitch hop on us. Genius? Maybe. But it’s not over yet. Thirdly we have a collaboration with Datsik that at first discusses the true meaning behind the title “Candy Kids” and moves on from there with a mix of aggressive dubstep beats while intertwined with gunfire, drum beats, and a dash of persian belly-dancing tunes. Last but not least, take the power punch of “Cyber Bully” and convert those punches into a destroyer at war, and feel as though you’ve just listening to WW3. In the best possible way of course. That’s how The Frim stepped this one up and lets you walk away shaking.
Go and give it a listen, and show some love by grabbing your own copy.
