Bass Family ATL has been hosting an event every Tuesday for all those house lovers in the city. On a weekly basis, house enthusiasts can RSVP for drink tickets and some free pizza before heading down into the intimate basement of Hangovers Buckhead to get their shuffle on. Remember the days when shows used to be really low key or those really special sets at sound camps during a festival weekend? House on Tuesdays brings that vibe, with comfortable couches and dance floor space for everyone to come together, artists and fans alike. The back bar was adorned in Halloween attire, a large spider looming over patrons as they ordered their next cocktail. Purple and green lights danced across the crowd as they began to file in for the night.
This past Tuesday, we got down to the likes of one of our favorite local artists, Jax. He kicked us off with some house variations weaving in and out of the sub genres like tropical, deep, progressive, and tech. We even got a little mix in of trap and moombahton with deep house backbeats. We especially loved his tropical house rendition of Nelly Fertado’s “Promiscuious” and throwing out some Dirtybird love with some playful mixing in of Will Clarke’s “Turn it Up” and Green Velvet and Claude VonStroke’s “Mind Yo Bizness”. Needless to say, he’s got some fantastic taste and was an excellent start for the night.
Next up on the decks was Sylo, who took us in more of a club direction with mixes of Major Lazer’s “Light it Up” and TJR’s “Ass Hypnotized”. Then when we least expected it he took us down a dark and dirty house path with his mix of ImanoS’ “Gunshy”. Of course Sylo didn’t leave us until he threw in a GOT theme song remix for all us fans as well as a hella throwback to Eiffel 65’s “I’m Blue”. We then ended our house venture with Kassy Nova, whom mixed in some melodic dubstep and big room vibes with her house tracks. She pumped up the room with her original tracks like, “Fun, Freedom, and Cat Ears” while intertwining with her recent mix “Secret House” which you can check out on her Soundcloud.
Tuesdays will never be the same and we’ll be sure to come back for more as the artists change out and the attendee list grows. We highly recommend you check it out next Tuesday. You can rsvp for those free goodies at Bass Family ATL’s Facebook page here.
