Lorin just dropped two new remixes via Mixmag in preperation for his European Vacation Tour. The first of these has specifically sent me into frenzy. A remix of his own collab with Lupe Fiasco. Trap-ish? Thicker 808’s, snares, and a focus on the original tracks hip hop section. YES! Bassnectar just dipped into the trap movement. This is monumental considering Lorin is one of the most renowned and respected producers in all of dance music.
This version is deeper and thicker with big 808 beats and a synth line that sounds like a rabid mosquito. It’s actually the original version of Vava Voom’s hip hop section, which was intended to be finished last fall, but I added too many layers and took it to new places, so this is a return to the original feel that Vava Voom was gonna have.
The second is a Modeselektor & Ninjaman bootleg that uses elements from ‘Wildstyle’ to highlight the track overall. Dark and ominous drop that is in full Bassnectar style.
