Introducing Bastian Bux to Australia

This weekend Bastian Bux is arriving for his first Australian tour. He is acting as an ambassador for Elrow with fellow artists Nic Fanciulli, wAFF, and Marc Maya. The story of Elrow and Bastian Bux are somewhat intertwined as both seem to be taking over the world. Even though both started more than a year ago (Bastian Bux in 2015, and Elrow in 2016) both have used 2017 as a launching point to stardom. It seems fitting that after both took over Europe and North America, they’re starting off 2018 by conquering new land. Australia, get ready.

Since it’s the rising artist’s first time Down Under, we at RaverRafting, figured we’d give the lucky fans that get to see him, a primer on what to expect when you experience the Spanish DJ at work.

When listening to his music two words come to mind, deep and powerful. His sound is built for dark dancefloors and big spaces with bass-lines that can fill a warehouse and dark sounds that encourage club patrons to keep their feet moving no matter what time of night.

He was prolific in 2017 releasing five EP’s and being featured on compilation albums by the likes of Elrow and Nicole Moudaber’s Mood. Those numbers are even more impressive when you realize that he’s been on a whirlwind tour around the world throughout the year.

He finished off the year strong with Lights, his one of his most popular EP’s to date and the impressively varied Sons of Suburbs, which he snuck in right before Christmas.

Sons of Suburbs is particularly interesting because it shows that he’s putting together and developing the sounds that he’s demonstrated all year. The EP displays the range that was hinted at in previous releases.

The songs that bookend the EP (“Desire Walk With Me” and “Space Smokers Are Invading Mars”) show a progression in his classic hard-hitting techno. They both feature heavy bass-lines that pound you in the chest along with dark tones that invite you into his eerie imagination. While the songs in the middle (“Suburbia” and “One Nine Five”) offer a respite. They don’t hit nearly as hard. Instead they explore a lighter side of techno by featuring higher sounds that get progressively more complex. The two opposing sounds demonstrate his ability to make songs that fit any occasion and shows that he is open to experimentation.

There’s no doubt that Bastian Bux is on the move. He will be a key artist to watch in the next year. If he can continue the growth he demonstrated in 2017, it will be exciting to see where he takes his sound in the new year.
