New Years Eve is a special time, a time when we get to reflect on the previous year in preparation to welcome in a new one. Psychologically, being that it’s the last day of the year, we always want to end it on the best note possible. Now, is there a better way to ring in the New Year than with one of the most internationally respected DJ’s in the music industry? I don’t think so, and Echostage provided just that with the legendary Benny Benassi.
Opening act Roberto Gonzales did just what he an opener should, he warmed up the crowd. Though, his performance was taken to another level by insane visuals which complimented the solid energy he was giving off. Perhaps it was his set that helped tie together the night. He didn’t drown us in hits, or high-octane record but rather gradually guided us to nearly 12:00 PM.
That’s when it became showtime as Times Square projected on the screen and a magical countdown began. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and it was officially 2015.
Pure bliss engulfed the venue as it became a spectacular sea of lights and confetti alongside giant balloons and of course a pool of ravers cheering to new beginnings. The party was in sixth gear and soon enough transform into a breathtaking scene of Benny Benassi positioned behind the booth. NRG’s remix of “Duck Sauce” rang ahead of favorites such as Kid Cudi’s “Day N’ Nite” and Skrillex’s remix of Benny’s ever popular “Cinema.”
All the piece fell into place as every build up, climax and transition was timed effortlessly and flawlessly. The drinks were delicious, the fans were friendly and the night could most definitely be marked as one of the best New Year’s Eve celebrations to ever hit D.C.
