If you’re a DMV-area native or frequent showgoer, you may have heard the name Badass Raves thrown around a few times. The production/promotion company has been around for nearly a decade, and has a plethora of shows and warehouse parties under its belt. A combination of annual events like Dreamscape and Psychedelic Nightmare along with a steady rotation of new/up-and-coming artists have made Badass something of a household name in underground circles.
With a huge lineup drop for the fourth annual Big Dub Festival and campout set for this August 1st – 4th at 4 Quarters Farm in Artemis, PA, Badass has proven once again they’re much more than just another local promo company; the festival is set to be one of the biggest in the Mid-Atlantic this side of Moonrise Festival.
Putting to good use every cent of their budget, Badass has put together a diverse list of names sure to please any dub loving summer festival attendee. Drumstep don Figure, trip-hop virtuosos Emancipator, liquid dubstepper Nit Grit and futurebass wizard Minnesota top a list brimming with talent, both known and yet-to-be discovered. Other personal highlights include Italian hard-electro duo Cyberpunkers, glitch-hop act Thriftworks (who worked wonders opening for Bassnectar throughout much of his recent tour), and DMV mainstay 2Rip – who also happens to be the brainchild behind Badass and Big Dub. Whether on the mainstage, in the dance tent, or at one of their official Silent Disco afterparties, you’ll be able to catch three fully-stocked days of quality music.
Beyond the tuneage, Big Dub purports to offer an array of activities on-site that will keep you busy even when you aren’t dancing. Expect yoga workshops, themed camp competitions, a vendor village, fireworks, and plenty of surprises. Located far from any major cities – a quick Google Maps search puts 4 Quarters Farm just over the Pennsylvania line, about two hours from D.C. and three hours from Pittsburgh – you’ll have very little to distract you from the festivities. We’ll wait and see if there’s anything more in the way of lineup announcements or additional information coming, but with presale tickets holding steady at $85 until the week of the festival you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better bang for your buck this summer.
