Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival is returning to Jones Beach Theater this August for its third year of operation. Last year’s Billboard attracted performances from artists like Calvin Harris, Marshmello, Nervo, Martin Garrix, Audien, and Paper Diamond. It was equipped with four stages each offering a different atmosphere allowing for a one of a kind experience. Billboard consistently offers a diverse mix of electronic, hip-hop, and pop which caters toward a multitude of fans. For this year’s Billboard we will see performances from headliners Marshmello, Demi Lovato, Zedd, Major Lazer, Big Sean, Gucci Mane, and DJ Khaled to name a few.
Although we’re definitely stoked for those headliners, today we’ll be shedding light on a local Chicago artist who has been turning heads all throughout the electronic world, Whethan. This young, rising star hangs around with fellow Chicago artists, Louis The Child. Whethan’s sound varies, however it generally leans towards the future bass realm, similar to the LTC sound we know. He has a couple collaborations with Charlie XCX in addition to his heavy hitting track with Flux Pavilion, “Savage”. Let’s take a listen to some of our favorite Whethan tunes.
In relation to touring, Whethan has begun to pop up at festivals all across the nation. In addition to performing at Lollapalooza this year, he’s also fresh off a performance at Electric Forest a few weeks ago. He’s had five official releases in the past year the majority of which surpassed millions of plays on Soundcloud. His most recent track, “Good Nights” is also the name of his tour that he will embarking on this summer and fall.
