Speaking for a few of the other girls that write for the blog, glitter is essential when it comes to prepping for any rave or festival. How do we fix this? How do we still create that iconic rave looks like the double buns with the glitter strip or even the glitter booty without the guilt that comes along with plastic sparkly stuff?
The answer is simple: Biodegradable Glitter!
One company out of the UK known as EcoStardust is making eco-friendly glitter out of plant cellulose, cosmetic grade dyes, and only enough aluminum to give it that iconic shine. The company donates 10% of profits to environmental charities and also will recycle anything made out of polyurethane that you mail to them. The company offers a wide array of colors and mixtures that will match any rave outfit spot on.
Glitterevolution is another brand out of the US that specializes in biodegradable glitter. The glitter that Glitterevolution sells is also made out of a plant cellulose but is a smaller typer of glitter. Their product is GMO-free, marine and wastewater biodegradable, home compostable, and most importantly is cosmetic quality. Each batch of glitter that Glitterevolution produces is hand mixed and hand packaged in California, and is sold in aluminum tins instead of plastic.
