If you didn’t quite get your Bixel fix from the #FREELIFE summer tour, or from their legendary closing set at EDC, then you’ll be happy to know that the boys are back in full force with their highly anticipated Empire EP. Incorporating a healthy mixture of old school and new school sounds, the Los Angeles power duo give you the tingly good vibes from their first original tracks for 2014.
“Empire,” the EP’s A-Side features a slew of melodic, light bodied synths which build into a massive thumping bass and break down. The winding sound devices, exciting claps and echoed vocals get the listener in the mood to party, as if they were leading the winning cheer, front row, at a highly energetic sporting event. (Fifa chant, anyone?)
Futhermore, the B-Side track “Clutch,” is a contemporary throwback anthem full of funky disco beats and break dance elements to get you wild on the dancefloor. The hype vocal chops and thrilling drum rolls call out to any b-boy or b-girl down enough to start busting a move. There’s no shortage of happiness or hype in this amazing new Bixel Boys release.
