On January 22, Bonsai Collective co-founder and CEO capshun joined forces with Sasha Rome and Afrosamuraiist to announce their latest venture: Denali Records. While Bonsai Collective mostly focused on more of the melodic side of electronic music, Denali is designed to give love to the heavier side of EDM. This fresh imprint will highlight harder electronic music within genres such as bass, drum and bass, house, and many more.
“Denali originates from the name of the tallest mountain in North America. This symbolizes the heavy, hard-hitting tracks we will release,” shared Sasha Rome in a press statement. “With Bonsai, we’ve had to exclude some good music that didn’t fit the Bonsai sound.”
“Now with DENALI we can represent those harder-hitting tracks and between the two labels we can cover a lot of ground in the electronic scene,” Rome continued. “We will continue to support both established and up and coming artists, with the quality of the music always being #1 for us.”
In celebration of this new announcement, bass music producer Muira lands on the label with “Athesis.” A warm, welcoming introduction leads listeners into an experimental abyss. As an organic piano break offers a tranquil intermission, a behemoth unleashes for the second round of booming basslines. “Athesis” represents a powerful, more abrasive side to Muira that hurts and seeks understanding. It showcases a more vulnerable side to Muira that his past music hasn’t shown.
“‘Aethesis’ starts out extremely vulnerable and finds its strength as the track progresses. At the song’s essence, it’s really just a story. I think you get something that reads very emotionally pure and magical and that will hopefully translate well to the listener.” -Muira
