After a killer festival year in 2016, electronic aficionados Boombox Cartel are back with yet another pounding headbanger of a track. With ‘Jefe’, the dance duo are definitely leaders in their field, especially as we get closer to this year’s season of summer anthems. After being teased with the track in DJ sets all over the world, it’s something trap lovers amongst Boombox Cartel’s fans can truly treasure.
‘Jefe’ is somewhat harder and deeper than other releases such as ‘Aftershock’ and ‘Supernatural’, both hits last year, as well as their deadly, shattering remix of Justin Bieber & MO’s ‘Cold Water’, which all still retain that classic hip hop influence. This direction of a harder and stronger sound is something Boombox Cartel have started to exhibit in their most recent work; an example would be the remix of Kaaris and Mr Carmack’s ‘Charge’.
Their collaboration with dance artist Ian Everson in ‘B2U’ helped Boombox Cartel gain followers from a more mainstream audience with the addition of soothing vocals, worlds away from their work with the likes of Grabbitz and NGHTMRE.
