When Borgore engages with the media, we can usually expect the unexpected. On topics ranging from his music to his lifestyle, Asaf Borger often provides witty, funny, and interesting responses.
However, in a recent interview before his show at The Regency in San Francisco, he provided some somber details about his experience in the music industry.
He was asked:
You’ve been around music and entertainment for a long time. Do you have anything that stands out, stuff that you learned later on down the line that if you could tell yourself early on, it could have made things easier?
His response:
Its not getting easier, its getting interesting… Growing up in Israel I grew up in this like, utopia that there’s artists, great artists, and they write their music and everything is for the right reasons. I grew up loving music and loving the idea behind it. And the deeper I’m getting into this industry, is the deeper I get into the dark secrets of the music industry. It kind of shattered my dreams, you know there’s a lot of people that are for me legends, and I learned things about them that just like, maybe I shouldn’t have known that, you know? Maybe it would be better if I didn’t.
We can only speculate, but it appears Borgore is alluding to ghost production, and perhaps even more damning secrets about artists in the industry.
All in all, Borgore’s response is quite surprising. Many artists avoid discussing these topics for various reasons. It was almost as if he wanted to get this off his chest — because the interview question did not solicit him for this type of answer.
As time goes on, we can expect to find out more about these dark secrets of the industry. To check out the segment of the video for yourself, begin at the 5:30 mark.
