When Bulgarian-producer Boyan was in the midst of crafting his forthcoming chilled all-instrumental EP, Colours of Heaven, one track stood out in particular. Boyan knew that he wanted to add some soulful flavors and emotive vocals into “My Time,” resulting in him reaching out to past-collaborator and friend Lina Nikol.
Lina soon transformed the track into an R&B masterpiece, infusing her magnificent sultry vocals into the future beats foundation. The song became such a standout that the two decided to release “My Time” as a standalone single via Stereofox. It’s groovy, dreamy, and the perfect tune to play on repeat.
“I was kind of on a Jill Scott, Ledisi, Erykah Badu vibe at that time, listening to whole albums, and when I heard the instrumental it came so naturally to lay down the vocals. I think you can sense the influence, but that’s the magic of music, we are all influenced by so many great artists and create our own signature.” -Lina Nikol
