Five years after putting out their debut album, Colorado-based super duo Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee – known collectively as BreakScience – continue to prove their expertise in all genres of electronic music with the March 9 release of their latest album, Grid Of Souls.
Throughout 10 tracks, the Deitch and Lee take listeners on an exploration through multiple realms of sound. From the opening track “Cruise Control,” a synth-heavy, future bass collaboration with Raquel Rodriguez to the ethereal notes of “Force Of Nature,” a collaboration with Paperwhite released as a single earlier this year – the album stands as a tribute to Breakscience’s ever eclectic, genre surpassing sound.
Notable tracks include “Reno,” a classically BreakScience track featuring floating vocals contrasted against the group’s signature gritty, glitched out synths; “Android Love,” an endlessly groovy collaboration with fellow funk fiends Lettuce; and “Light Shine Down,” a bouncing, house-influenced track featuring Karl Denson and Lenesha Randolph
“We put years of life experience into this record. These songs had me feeling all kinds of ways during the process of finishing them. All the emotions. It’s funky as hell during some parts and laid back and ethereal in others. We’ve managed to make the infusion of live instruments into the production more seamless than ever before. Instruments are not a gimmick for us. We’ve been pro musicians before all of this. I have a good feeling our fans will be intensely feeling this release.”
