It’s been awhile since we’ve gotten some bold, funky, and creative glitch hop. Hailing from India and known as DJ Nasha in the Bollywood dance mix scene, in 2010 Ritesh D’ Souza began a dubstep project known as B.R.E.E.D. His first EP titled INCU-BASS has the hard, slow, and dirty 2011 dubstep that we all love and miss. But this time around. B.R.E.E.D gives us a sensational liquid and emotional glitch hop/electronica journey with Binate. Defined as “yoked together”, it couldn’t be any better suited for an album bumping with hard glitch hop, and infused with a variety of outside influences.
“Stuck in a Dream” with its bouncy synth-hop, impending storms, a touch of piano, and building strings sets the mood. “Tears” transports you back to the silk road with bonfires of circling belly dancing maidens. Imagine yourself playing Mortal Kombat in the hood with some “Intergalactic Funk”. And many more. Make a jaunt of it, and listen to the whole album through and through.
