Brett Gould is back at it again this year with his massive new EP Get Down. This DJ and producer has had a quick uprising in the UK house seen since first making himself known on the underground circuit just a few years ago. You’ll certainly be familiar with his memorable hit “House Music Is,” which sat pretty on Beatport’s Top 100 chart for over four months, peaking at #4. He’s released on notable labels like Sola and Solid Grooves, and spent his 2017 summer playing in Ibiza for Do Not Sleep and Solid Grooves. After being asked by Riva Starr to remix Snatch Record’s “Best of 2017 Compilation” back in December, Brett Gould took this momentum and went full speed ahead into the new year, releasing two more tracks on Glasgow Underground, “Mess with the Freak” and “Hurry Up.” Now, the London-based producer is back with a club-ready hitter and we can confirm that this one’s a major dance floor killer.
Out now on Idris Elba’s imprint 7 Wallace, Get Down consists of three deliciously edgy tracks that will light the dance floors in Ibiza and others alike on fire. The EP kicks off with the title-track, made up of an industrial backbeat, which is reinforced by a weighty, rolling bassline. Teases of vocal chops and intricate synth-work eventually melt down into a funky, driving groove. Meanwhile, “Late Night” delves into the murkier, darker realms of house music. This one is driven by its percussive layers and punchy bassline, with chilled atmospherics and a whole host of synth stabs. Finally, Get Down raps up with Huxley’s remix of “Late Night,”adding a punch full of high-intensity to the end of one hell of an EP.
