Yesterday afternoon, Britney Spears and Will.i.am took to social media to generate hype for their latest team effort, “Work Bitch” which is set to debut early next week. Spears teased that she would post the lyrics to the song but instead posted an ambiguous Instagram photo that only revealed the supposed collaborators responsible for the track with the lyrics themselves blurred out.
The artists credited for the track included: Britney Spears, William Adams (Will.i.am), Otto Jettman (Otto Knows) and (to his surprise) Sebastian Ingrosso. Following the post, the former Swedish House Mafia member immediately responded on Twitter that although he is supportive of its release, he was not involved in the production of “Work Bitch”.
Ingrosso tells Billboard –
I don’t really know why they put my name in there… It’s a really good song and I’m looking forward to what’s going to happen with it. But I can’t really take credit for it.
It’s understood that Will.i.am had originally called Sebastian Ingrosso as friends to ask if he had any beats available for him to use for Britney’s new album. Ingrosso, being the manager of both Alesso and also Otto Knows, sent over a few beats on behalf of his proteges. Of the sounds he sent, Will.i.am chose one that Otto Knows had originally composed.
It’s easy to see where the confusion might occur, but the mistake still arouses the question of whether this was an intentional media ploy or a simple miscommunication. What do you think?
